In line with China's growing role in global development, UNICEF works to promote partnerships and South-South Cooperation between China and countries in Africa and Asia for the benefit of the most disadvantaged children.

How can you make a difference?

We are looking for an intern to work as part of the South-South Cooperation and Partnerships team. You will be exposed to various development issues for children, particularly related to China's South-South cooperation and public partnerships and use your knowledge and skills to perform a range of tasks, both analytical and administrative. The responsibilities include:

  • Providing research support to the team on international development cooperation-related issues, especially China's South-South cooperation and Belt and Road Initiative; and background research for public partnership mapping;
  • Facilitate knowledge-sharing on South-South cooperation, including translation of documents between English and Chinese;
  • Assist with the organization of meetings, workshops and seminars, note taking when requested; actively participate in various events and meetings;
  • Assist with administrative tasks related to the management of south-south cooperation projects under the guidance of the Programme Manager;
     

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • University studies at  undergraduate or graduate level in international relations/development.  
  • Previous volunteer/internship experience is desired but not necessary.
  • Fluency in English and Chinese.
  • Good computer skills.

Duration and Conditions:The internship will run for six months from November 2018 to April 2019. We would expect you to be available to work from the UNICEF Beijing office on 3-4 days per week but will be flexible to enable the concurrent continuation of studies. This internship does not come with a monthly salary but will offer a unique opportunity to make a difference and to get a first-hand experience in UNICEF's work to build partnerships between China and countries in Africa and Asia.
