For every child, an education

UNICEF is working with partners to support life skills development for adolescents. We are currently undertaking two projects focused on the revision of eight current life skills modules to meet the changing needs of adolescents, and to develop courses on self-awareness, problem solving and social emotional learning, respectively. Strong technical inputs are vital to enhance the capacity of government counterparts. We are looking for a full-time consultant to coordinate the work and to provide strong technical support to ensure quality of results.

How can you make a difference?

The consultant will provide technical expertise for skills based teacher training and support in the development of teaching materials. Moreover, the consultant will collect and develop case studies of life skills education, including video documentaries and blog posts which will contribute to the documentation of results and dissemination of best practices. The consultancy aims to begin on 1 February 2019 and end on 15 January 2020. The consultant will be based in UNICEF's office in Beijing but expected to travel frequently to the project sites.   

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have

  • A university degree at graduate level or above in Education
  • At least five years' relevant technical work experience in the field of formal and non-formal education for adolescents in China,
  • Experience from working with vulnerable groups is an asset
  • Work experience on girl's education and gender expertise is an asset
  • Good writing and editing skills
  • Ability to work independently under tight deadlines
  • Openness to change and ability to manage complexities.
  • Strong relationship building skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • A creative mind and ability to take initiative
